Does anyone if a "Red Splendor" flowering crab would be a good tree for smoking. It is best known for its spring blossoming and then has tiny apples which the birds love come spring time. Any help would be great.

Thanks
Mark

Turns your meat more red than cherry. crabapple has a flavor profile like apple... just a little more tanins or color in it. smoke smells very sweet, unmistakable fruit wood flavor

I use crabapple all of the time, it's about the only fruit tree that grows here. It's a good smoke, make sure it's well seasoned. I'm now using some that was cut 2 yrs. ago.
