I am building a reverse flow smoker. I have a 36x48 smoker. I used the bbq pit calculation table to figure everything out except it does not tell me how high I need to make the baffle plate from the bottom of the smoker. My opening for the box to chamber according to the calculation table can be 6 x 18. How much higher should I put the baffle plate above this? Also what should the distance be between the baffle plate and my cooking rack? Thanks for any help you can give me.

I am going to be building one in the spring. From my research I have come up with this.BP should be flush with top of FB opening.Bottom grate four to six inches above that. This may need to be scaled up or down depending on overall size of the CC.

I built my own RF smoker last year. My opeing to main camber is 6x24 and my first rack is 9" above the RF plate. It works great and even temp from right to left.
