Just an fyi, if anyone is interested in the vertical offset, I ordered the Bandera cover off the Charbroil web site and it fits it nicely.

Well, mama and I cruised by Academy last night and they had the Bandera clone so I crawled all over it. It was so like my 'Dera I had to fight back a tear. ;) The steel's thickness was so close to my Made in USA pit's that I couldn't tell any difference. It had dual exhaust stacks, the intake controls were a little different, and there were fewer options for placing grates in the cabinet but I pronounce it good!

I looked at one of the $299 verticals at my local Academy last week. The first thing that caught my eye was the rack tracks in the vertical smoking section. They were welded in crooked, so the racks didn't rest horizontal. That sort of turned me off on it.

The overall size of the unit is very compact, and you can probably do some great que in it, once fire/temp control is mastered. The smoking chamber is pretty cramped for sure.

Craftsmanship wasn't very good on the unit I checked out though.

I looked at that and the welds I saw were fine, but the racks were warped! Not a huge deal to me, but crooked tracks? No way.
