Recently got my friend into this smoking stuff! He liked it so much he wanted to build a pit. So naturally having a welder and plasma cutter, we got to it!
We wanted to build an offset, cabinet smoker that was fully insulated and sealed. We started off running the numbers and got our plans made. Ended up finding a place in Lewisville, TX that had a laser table we had all our pieces cut out. I will be doing this again! Man, that made it so nice.
Come to find out he made a goof on the firebox dimensions and ended up too big. Since we already good chunk of change tied up in laser cut metal, we decided to push forward.
This thing was a challenge from the start to the finish. Took us about a month and a half of building on the weekends and after work. But so far after about 4 or 5 cooks, its unbelievable how well this thing maintains temp and turns out meat! Works better than we ever thought it would!
Anyway, enough talking. Lets get to the eye candy:
The start! The first night of building.
Insulation going on

Vid of the Firebox door gasket
Setting up to mate chambers.
Getting close!
This was the day we rolled it out. Still needed to cut the Ipe handles.
Handles on
Vid run though of the in's and out's of the smoker:

Just wanted to show off a labor of love! Thanks for looking!
