Would it be possible to notch the cylinders so you lift up the rod to rotate it? Two notches and the rods would either stay rotated out of the way (90 deg) or remain perpendicular to support the rack.

Yeah, that would certainly work. I have found no issue with them moving around on their own but if it ever bacame a problem.....

They were a pretty tight tolerance fit when I drilled out the threading inside the coupling to make room for the rod to set down in. Plus the addition of smoke build-up on them makes it a perfect operation. :clap2:
