Swapped the thermocouple in the 1* due to uneven temps. Attached is the results. I took old thermocouple out and cleaned it really well. I thought it was clean, but the part of the probe that was closest to the grill body still had some grime stuck to it. I cleaned it really well. *Full disclosure, this resulted in the temp swing being more reasonable. Probe was approximately 1 1/4” from the thermocouple. At around 3pm, I started at 200•. Pit got to 205 and probe read Up to 234•. But settled in around 227ish. Increased to 300. Pit read 300, probe read up to 333 before steadying out to 327ish. Shut down, replaced thermocouple. Pit read 210, probe read 223. Increased to 300. Pit read 300, probe never got higher than 313. Settled down to 304-305. Then ramped up to 317 before dropping and finally settling in around 299-302. Was it worth the 40$ for new thermocouple? Probably not, but results are hard to disagree with. The chart shows new thermocouple is dead accurate to the pit temp.
