I use it to drizzle on the newspaper in the chimney starter. In the past I've had issues where the newspaper alone wouldn't light the coals in the chimney very well. No lighter fluid ever goes into the actual cookers though. One small bottle lasts me a year or more.
 
Charcoal chimney and starter fluid.

1) I like the smell and it reminds my of the good old days.

2) It starts charcoal with minimal smoke and start time.
 
I use a chimney with lighter fluid but am careful NOT to put the lit coals in myPrimo XL until the briquettes are fully lit and the smell of the fluid has dissipated. I have used paper but stopped after a couple of episodes where the paper flame went out without having lit the charcoal first.

This is why I started drizzling fluid on my newspaper. 100% success rate doing it that way.
