my first high end pit was a klose BYC.. 20 years later.. still going strong. These pics was from the first Brethren bash June 2003 to christen the BYC. Bunch of guys flew in from all over for 3 days of excessive cooking and drinking.

Congratulations on the new toy. Youre going to love it.

Excellent deal. I have a Klose BYC and it loves to run at/around 275 in the main compartment. You also have the firebox grill (so you can cook over the firebox) and the charcoal "box". I also have both and, while I don't use the charcoal box, I do occasionally use the grill and find it works well.

Spray some Pam or put some mineral oil over the firebox rust to help keep it at bay.

After a cook and while the cooker is still warm, I like to do a wipe down using a damp microfiber cloth with a few drops of food grade mineral oil on the cloth to help protect the smoker and make it look even more awesome. The mineral oil leaves a non-sticky finish (compared to Pam). It burns off on the next cook so it's not permanent. Try it, I'll bet you'll like it.

Enjoy!

That looks an awful lot like the Klose 20"x48" I bought in 2011. I LOVED that pit. I moved in 2017 and the movers dropped it from a forklift. Ruined. I paid ~$1900 in 2011. The same pit would have cost ~$3800 in 2017. I decided to replace it with a 24"x60" Shirley. I love that pit also.
