Is the Maverick ET-733 worth it?

I've got a Maverick ET-732, but am tempted to get a new ET-733 (mostly because it looks fancy and because I like that you can probe two meats at once). Is it worth $70? I've read some criticism of the battery life, but do people otherwise like them?

Any info would be much appreciated.

I got my 2nd 732 with hybrid probes. I don't need any of the features of the 733. I can probe 4 meats if I want or 1 pit and 3 meats.

I never had the 732, when I bought, the 733 was available. The Amazing Ribs folks rated it better, so I bought it. had it for 6 months now and use it one every cook. Still on the same original batteries. I don't use the pre-selected meat temps, but I am happy with the tool.

Do you need to upgrade, probably not if you are happy with the 732. It's all up to you...

I didn't realize that you can use the hybrid probes on the 732. That's awesome.

Same here! The 732 has everything I need and if I were to buy a new Maverick it'd be another 732 cause it costs less!

ET-73 here. looking forward to upgrading to 732, but if it aint broke, don't fix it. my ET-73 does the job. sure its a pain to take the battery cover off every time i need to turn it on or off, but that problem was solved when I lost the cover.

Still works good enough to try justifying a $50 plus replacement. I can buy a whole lot of ribs with that money

on amazon the cost is like 9 bucks more for the 733. so why not get it? I have seen these post a few times and cant get my head around that. Is there something I am missing?

I don't think I'd buy one if I already have the 732... if I was purchasing my first one I would consider the 733 just because.

Yep, that $9 is a good 6 pack of beer!

Actually it's about a $19.00 difference, so now we're almost talking about a case of Shiner Bock!:p

I own both, I actually prefer the 732. Easier to read the LCD, and to me it's just as frustrating to deal with the stupid useless meat presets on the 733 as is it is to deal with the one-way-only temp adjustments on the 732.

That's why I never change the preset. I just skip down the the IT and set it and then the PT...

Doing beef ribs right now and it says PORK...
