To be a true competition Bbq team how many contest per year 10,15,20 or more?

How do you define a "true" competition team?
And another part of the equation is going to be the area in which this hypothetical team is located. In some parts of the country a team has a choice of 2-3 events within two hours' drive on any given weekend -- but when we started, we thought we were really lucky to be able to scrape together one contest per month driving up to 17 hours one way.
