how do you get sponsors?
I was at a comp recently and spoke with someone that mentioned he had sponsors.
Do any of you have them?
how do you get them?
what can they do for you?
Is it worth it?
Who do you contact?
What would you put into a contact letter?

I actually just got sponsored today from a local butcher to provide all the meat for my contest; 2 briskets, 2 shoulders, 3 spares, and 20 thighs. This will be my first contest, so I had no experience to speak of. Being a graphic designer, I spent a lot of time designing a good looking well thought out plea, explaining the facts of the competition (#visitors, sponsors of the event, etc) and also introduced everyone on my team. Then I made a long-winded plea of what I would provide for them and what I wanted in return. I then designed team t-shirts with their name on them, and designed a couple options of banners that would be displayed at the event. Just got off the phone with them today and was extremely excited with the news. think from their perspective, what are they getting in return....
