Help me with my firebox please

Looks like you simply need a bigger fire and possibly more vents. I'd first try burning a larger fire with the door cracked and see what it does. If you're getting 225-250 with that size of a fire, then you dont need a larger firebox, just a larger heat source, ie fire. Once you know you can get higher temps with a larger fire and door cracked, then you know you need more air flow so installing a vent or 2 may fix the problem. That looks like a pretty large smoker and made of thick steel so make sure you're giving it plenty of time for it all to come up to temp.

I'm just going by the picture an instinct using the chamber size of 30 X 84

Fire box should be 30X30 X 20
Chimney 6X 35
Firebox air intake 59.4 sqr in
Firebox to chamber opening 1/2 moon 20.8 " or 158.4 sqr in

So this says your FB is to small and the opening to the chamber is To big

If you add more or bigger intake dampers, you might think about being sure that they allow for air UNDER the fire grate. The current intake dampers look a little highly placed to get air under the fire, in fact if they were lower the dampers that you have would probably be enough!:-D

good point

maybe ypu can raise the firegrate with bricks for a test to see if that helps

so from your sig I take that this is a Greasy Hill??
