I'm getting a side of beef in August and need to invest in a freezer alarm. The last side I purchased my old deep freeze died and luckily I was home and could run out and get a new one. I don't want to take a chance this time.

I know a lot of members here have freezer alarms so what is a good brand and what do I look for? I would like to be able check it on my phone. Thanks!

I use SensorPush sensors…they don’t have an audible alarm built into them but they do have notifications through mobile and I like the historical graphing capabilities for trending and peace of mind. It’s a USA based company too which is nice for IoT things.

That's what I use as well. We often go weeks without checking our deep freeze, and could go 5 days without checking the garage setup. I keep a sensor in all of those, as well as one in my humidor. Their Customer Support is pretty solid, too.

I do have a few friends that use and swear by https://wirelesstag.net/ But I haven't used them so can't say much.

I'm guessing it's easy to setup multiple units and track them all from the same app. I like the idea of putting one each of my humidors also.

Yessir. I know it was easy with the Sensorpush. I have alarms set based on the sensor-so the garage fridge alerts at a different temp than either freeze, and the humidor alerts based on humidity.

It also sends notice when a sensor is low on battery, and like Andy mentioned-they can be set to alert when it DOESN'T get a reading.

It's definitely saved me a time or two, when the freezer door wasn't shut tight, and within 20 minutes I get a message saying so, and could get it resolved before things started to thaw.

Thanks my friend! One of these days we need to get together for some BBQ and a cigar.

I've used both https://www.thermoworks.com/rt801/ and https://www.thermoworks.com/rt8100mat/ at home. We have freezers in the garage and in the basement, and I work from home, so I am within earshot of the freezers every day.

In fact, I had a freezer die on Father's Day this year and we heard the alarm from the garage in the Kitchen. Had to run out and get ice for coolers and then go buy a new chest freezer. The little $32 alarm saved me 40 racks of ribs and 200lbs of pork butt!
