Last Thursday I towed my new-to-me El Rey Smoker 500 miles to its new home!!! I’m so excited and happy just looking at, cannot wait to try it out! As always seems to be the case, I left town for the weekend and was not able to start a fire until early evening yesterday.
The specs: 48”x24” cook chamber; upper and lower cooking grates; insulated Fire box is huge - 24x24x28, “top flow” traditional offset; grate-level exhaust; SS shelf, 5” diameter ss exhaust; grease drain; trailer-mounted 12 ft L x 5 ft W.
Minor issues include broken lower hinge on fire box door, paint damage on lid from running too hot, fire box gasket is a bit shredded, fire box grate expanded metal heat damage (small hole), a little rust inside and minor rust on undercarriage, the rig was stored outside and not covered or properly cared for (until now). And no plates or registration or spare tire made for a high risk, high reward drive home with a happy ending!!
