Either pecan suks or I need practice

I love and have been Pecan using because of its mildness. That's what I was told and why I used it. Mesquite was to strong. Have been mixnig in some oak but loves my pecan.
 
Joe, that is definetly not pecan. I use pecan exclusivley because of it's mild flavor, and have never experienced what you are describing. When you get your hands on some true pecan, I think you will really enjoy cooking with it.
