My drum had this liner. I had two burns with two oak pallets in each burn, and the last one with the barrel laid on its side. It burned about 98% of the liner off. The remaining I did not worry about, as the barrel was red hot on the last burn, and anything left was "harmless" in my thinking. After the seasoning, it is all covered in a black covering. No after taste noticed. The drum does not get hot enough to burn your hands if you feel of it while cooking, so I see no need to worry about any chemical release from it during a cook. YMMV.
