A fun take on Devils on Horseback, and yummy too.

Start by marinating some pitted dates in beer for a couple hours

When that's done, gather some pickles, cream cheese and large pepperoni slices

Chop up a pickle or two, mix it with a couple spoonfuls of cream cheese and a squirt of srirachi if you like it spicy

If the dates aren't split already, cut them down one side and open them up. Put the cream cheese mixture in a ziplock bag and cut the corner off. Squeeze a bit of the mixture into each date and wrap with pepperoni, securing with a toothpick. I cut the pepperoni in half to try to get better coverage on the date, but it didn't really work out that great. I'll just leave them whole next time.

Then I fired up some charcoal and got the grill up to 450

Add the devils for indirect heat and close it back up

After 5 minutes, give them a spin so they cook more evenly

After another 5 minutes they're done

These are soooo good. The sweet of the date plays really well with the savory cream cheese and the sour pickles. And the sriracha and pepperoni give it just a bit of a kick. Next time I'm definitely making a bigger batch.
