Cheap Instant Read Thermometer

My son wanted to order something on Amazon last night, and we needed something for couple bucks to add up to $35 for free shipping. So I added this cheap little instant read thermometer. Just got it and initial test with boiling water looks like it's pretty accurate. Will report back with how it compares to the old school meat thermometer.

You can get some decent mileage out of a cheap thermometer - I've been using one of these for 2 years now and it still works fine:

Keep telling myself I'll upgrade to the Thermoworks ThermoPop when it dies...but not yet!

Yeah, don't have the loot to drop on a Thermopen just yet. And if I did I'd probably buy a remote thermometer first.
