Charcoal

Wicked

I use WICKED GOOD -- weekend warrior -- bought 300lbs. in Da' BRONX NY -- of all places -- HUNTS POINT. An interesting locale -- for you all that ain't from 'round these parts -- you have NO IDEA!

I love the Royal Oak food service briquettes -- low ash, even temps, great product. I like them better than Rancher. And I can easily get it in 40 pound bags for $15/bag, which is nice.

I use only lump. (unless I am using pellets)
My first choice is Ozark oak made in Arkansas
Second is either Royal Oak or Hasty Bake.

Check out this website, "nakedwhiz.com. They have tested and rated all of the lump charcoals. They also have a reader ranking section. I think its a pretty good and honest evaluation of lump charcoal.

Rancher briq's. Second choice would be RO food service briq's (chef's select) or RO lump. Would like to try Humphries if I could find it around here.

I've only cooked with Rancher and Kingsford, so I would go with Rancher.

But when my stockpile of that is gone, if I can't replenish it I will try some others.

Disclaimer to Disclaimer: Even if I was not sponsored by Wicked Good I would still be using their charcoal. In fact I used it for a long time before I was even sponsored.

Just a quick fyi. I was at the Ozark Oak factory last week getting some lump. The owner there told me that the only difference in Ozark Oak and Hasty Bake was the bag. Exact same stuff.

First Choice: Wicked Good Lump or Briqs

Second Choice: Stubbs

Far superior to Rancher!

I used up the last of a bag of Rancher a couple weeks ago and broke out a bag of Kingsford I had yesterday. When I lit the chimney of Kingsford I couldn't believe the amount of smoke it generated compared to the Rancher. Luckily I have 4 more bags of Rancher left to use up after this bag of K is gone.

Oh yes and the price. Ozark Oak is about 1.50 less per bag.
