Charcoal Chimney Starters

I use the side burner on the grill, fast and easy, once it's dumped I set it on a paver, never a problem of spalling the concrete with the coals gone.

Either cooking grate or cinderblock. Have done it on the driveway before too with a dollar store sheet pan as to not to leave marks but, with the above comments on explosions I don't think I will continue that method

Sterno cans, light it, set the starter on top.

I am going to try this. I have always used Weber Starter cubes, but the price has gone up so much in the past 2-3 years I have been looking for an alternative.
