Brethren/Sisterin Garden Thread 2010.....

Made 4 container for tomato plants last spring.
We had more tomatoes and gave away most of them.
Totes are under about a 4-5 ft. deep snow drift at the present time.

I've got a large version of Humbolt's seed starter shelf (http://i633.photobucket.com/albums/uu57/xterrible/DSC03075.jpg) that has a 2' X 4' fluorescent fixture over each shelf with 4 to 5 flats per shelf. I'll try to remember to take a pic tonight.

I estimate I have about 500 or so plants started so far; consisting of many types of sweet & hot pepper, tomatoes, tomatillos eggplant, etc.

Here's one shot of a portion of my garden from last year.

For those of you that have limited space, you might find this interesting. http://www.earthbox.com/index.php

I have been using this system for years and have even made a few smaller ones. Have had many conversations with the inventor and met him. The above link will give you the basic info on how the system works.

Attached prons aren't as good as the photos on his site as my tomatoes are ready to start over, but you can see that I had a very large plant at one time and got lots of toms.
The other pron is of the ones I built myself. That's my herb garden. The web site does not show the latest mods he is using, but it is simply a hard plastic cover with holes cut in for the plants.
