Lil Bobby Brisket is here! This is the summer he starts his grilling and Q journey. Now that he's 4 he can do the majority of things like seasoning, working a pair of tongs(not thongs, that's later:wink, and checking temps, and so on. Dad still handles all fire issues! SO, Friday night he scores a new Smokey Joe at Lowes cause he's been a good boy at school. The story here at home with his lil sister is a different one!:boxing: We burned out his drum Friday night too and hit with paint on Saturday and put the last touches on it today, vent tabs. The SJ lid and grate will pull double duty on the drum too, so the original drum lid is for storage. I'm running out of room in the backyard!! Gonna need a bigger home soon.
Last night was brats and some boudins for Daddy! The kid's a natural. Then today was chicky legs and thighs in the MUDS! I'm jealous of his drum.......holds temp with precision and NO lid leakage.(Big thanks to Uncle Swamprb for his MUDS specs and advice?) Here's the pron. The pics tell the story.
NJOY!
Proud and Bragging Dad!
Bob:becky:
We learned about "hot" handles...and to test em first before picking the lid up. He did very well.
Some Smokey Joe Sweet Blue......of the oak variety.
DONE and pulling em off.....
Seems Lil Sis is a FAN of his grilllin skillz.....
Who likes SEEfood.........LOL!
Okay, now the slow and low...........
With storage lid.....
I LOVE THIS PIC........It's all about the Sweet Blue!
His technique is spot on if I do say so myself.......:icon_blush:
Texas Ranger BBQ. Has a nice Ring to It.!!
Sweet Blue is SWEET BLUE.........no matter the pit!
I got to break in Q Can II with some meat too......a butt and riblets.
Well, my son's chicken rocked. I'll hire him out for a large fee to any Q Teams wanting 1st place in Chicken. You gotta pay for my plane ticket too.......:becky::heh:
I made a batch of sweet Q beans with the leftover brats and boudin. As you can see, I snatched the skin off the thigh before taking a pic. I couldn't help it. I'm beaming like a goof ball over here. Sadly, I don't have pics of him eating YET............he got a bit, delirious(Needed a nap, REALLY bad mod). But I'll get some in a bit!
Thanks.
Bob
GOT HIM........
Lastly, proper cleaning and grate maintenance.......with his new grate brush of course!
