Well Bob, I figure if you're going to vote for me, I better submit something. All sorts of fruit and berries are coming into season, and like usual I couldn't make up my mind what to make, so I baked a
few of my husband's favorite things.
I began by pitting cherries
until I had a nice bowl of them
I mixed them with sugar and cornstarch let them maserate for 20 minutes. I lined some muffin tins with cream cheese pastry dough and baked these in the oval for about 40 minutes at 325*. Muffin tins are so versatile, did you know you can actually bake muffins in them?
On to Blueberries. We have some high bush blueberries in the backyard just ripening, not enough for turnovers, so I supplemented with store bought.
I baked the blueberry turnovers and some tartlet shells.
I filled the shells with vanilla custard, covered with strawberries, and topped with melted apricot preserves
I topped the cherry dumplings with whipped cream just before serving.
I placed these in a basket
and served them up for my husband with a glass of milk
