So impressive, Awesome post! The meal looks phenomenal!!
Wow. That's awesome, Jeanie.
I was about to ask some dumb question about how the feed tweaked the flavors (I've always been curious about this when dealing with egg-laying chickens, too)... but it looks like the flavors really carried through!
You should flash freeze those, as some of us would love to get our grubby mitts on a couple (just for comparison's sake).
Enjoy! Thanks for sharing your process!

Looks like your hens eat better than most of us. Awesome looking cook.
Awesome post!
Nice work! As usual...
That is wonderful Jen and I bet those birds are gonna be killer!!!!!!!! I would imagine to get a better piece of chicken .... You would have to be a rooster.......... Well done as usual!!!!!!
That is good stuff neighbor.
You can't buy quality like that at the store.
lol Thanks Adams! The "Mines" were flowing that day. I think campfires, fishing and cold beer just go together. :biggrin1:“Mine” :-D
Really cool.
Thanks Bill! Great to see you posting again! Welcome back. :grin:As always Jeanie, you have a simple way of writing a story that really works.
I'm not sorry for the chickenzes. They get a better life with you than they would anywhere else.
Cheers!

It looks a pan of cornbread dressing you fed them! That post is the epitome of farm to table.
Thanks Nick! The garlic, ginger and scallion are my favorites. The more fat on the birds the better, but cooking with the skin on makes the flavoring more pronounced. This was my second batch, the first one was a success so I had to do it again. :grin:I'm also curious about the garlic feed. I mean it makes sense, but I'd be curious to try two birds side by side
Thanks George! That plucker was the best 40 bucks I've ever put together. lol Made it from "stuff" around the farm but heck, it works!Outstanding Looks and sounds awesome I remember the chicken plucker
Great post, Jeanie!
Love that mobile pen deal. You did those chix proud - like Aussie said, they're better off with you than anywhere else.
Nicely done all around! :clap2:
Too much awesome in one thread Neighbor. Wow! A whole another level.
Awesome post, Jeanie. Did you have any varmint troubles with them? Do you put them inside at night?
Five weeks?! That's pretty quick! I assume your plucker is on your blog?
Thanks for the info. You were missed.
Thanks Greg!! Don't let your son see this! lol I'm sure he loves his hens and would not think of eating one. :becky:
The pen works well. The last one I built was destroyed in the ice storm a year or so ago. Had to make another one. They love being able to chase bugs and I move them around from shade to shade.
You need to try this!
Thanks again...
Oh he's thinking of eating 'em! He decided not to name them.
We''ve been putting out in the yard during the weekend days with an old pen we used for when our dogs were pups. They sure do like getting after the bugs and clover and whatnot. The chix are getting bigger and could probably use a little more space, so your idea looks like it'd be a great way to go!
Now that is how ya do it! Most excellent.
