I received the e-mail below from the organizer of the Throwdown on the River in Dubuque, IA.

Hello BBQ competitors and friends,

It is with great sadness that I must inform that this year's Throwdown on
the River in Dubuque, IA has been cancelled. Due to hotel renovations and a
new restaurant chain addition, it was decided that having our contest was
too risky at this time. I truly appreciate the opportunity to have met all
of you and I hope to see you at contests this summer as I still plan to
compete. Special thanks to CancerSuckschicago.com, Smoky D's BBQ, and Ulcer
Acres, as they were very instramental in helping to make this event a
success after only two years. Thank you again for your constructive
feedback. We here at the Grand Harbor Resort and Waterpark, hope to have
the Throwdown back in 2010. Thank you to everyone who supported this event
I hope to see you this summer.

Well, that really sucks. Three down one added. Hopefully Mitchellville will move forward with some sanctioning. This would be a perfect time for them to move forward with it being that the last Iowa contest would now be Aug 25th in Nevada.

BTW... The non sanctioned Madrid apps are on the iabbq.org site for that same weekend as this contest was.

That sucks. It wasn't on our schedule, but still a downer.

See ya all in LaPorte and Waucoma! (Two of Iowa's larger metropoli)

well there is another down we was going to do.. anyone know on waterloo?

Darn, I guess I got to figure out a replacement. I think we'll do the "two in one weekend" thing in La Porte and Waterloo...

well hmmm Waterloo and Laporte will have to look at waucoma distance wise and such as i have no clue where that is.

It's just east of Lawler and west of St. Lucus. Surely you know where those two places are.

OK, no one does unless you are from there. Waucoma is east of New Hampton about 20 miles. It's about 2 hours straight north of you.
