Weber smokefire shipped

That's the good thing with it being a Weber, you know that their support will be solid and the issues are worked through.

On the ash and grease, if the ratio is right then yes, it probably could just carry it down. I'd be surprised if that's always going to be the case though. Again, completely different design and pellet brand matters too but on a long cook my Rectec generates a decent amount of ash. I would think I'd end up with a paste on quite a number of cooks. I do think Weber tried to minimize the ash by the design of their fire pot. On mine, the only place for the ash to go is to be blown by the fan into the barrel. Whether it's enough or not, not sure.

The other problem I would think with testing the design is how much variation there is with the amount of grease even when cooking the same item. I'll have five cooks in a row with a pork shoulder and not much seems to accumulating in the drip pail, Then on cook six, I fill it half way up suddenly. No idea why some of them are that much more "juicy".

Good luck with the smoker though, it is a cool design if they can get it all sorted out.
Good points on the grease issues. I'll keep updating on how mine is working. Hoping more fixes are on the way.

Glad to hear that you are getting the issues worked out. Can be very frustrating to spend that kind of coin on something only to have that type of problems right out of the starting gate. Weber will take care of you I am sure.

Has Anybody had any luck with the smaller Weber? I’ve only seen the larger grill in the videos.

Sad indeed [emoji3525]

Fingers crossed they get it figured out, but after seeing what all happened on whotube and social media, I see no point in being a crash test dummy knowing what I know.

I read that Weber presold 70,000 units, true? I don’t know... In a way I hope not because if true, it will leave a black mark that they may not be able to overcome.

I’m still holding out hope for a Weber pellet grill.

I had a grease fire today at the end of my first cook. Unlike some of the others, my cooker ran pretty well except for the hopper not being slick/steep enough.

So frustrated.

Just throwing my 2 cents into the pile since I pretty much drank the koolaid based on what I was told at the launch event. What a mess.

Never again.

If that doesn’t say it, don’t know what does. Thanks for keeping it real Justin. Makes that purchase and taking one for the team to stay unbiased.

I tryed to post Baby Back Maniac's vid about it last night but the site went down. Thanks for your input Justin!

Justin, any more details? I’ve only had 2 cooks thus far with 1 flameout. Have a couple more weeks before I have to return too Lowe’s but can’t cook during most of the upcoming two weeks. I value your opinion and wondering if I should return and try something proven. Any recommendations at similar price? Thank you all.

Despite the issues a lot of the cooks I see in the facebook group look really good. I have owned 1 pellet grill which was a pit boss and the only issue I had with it was I wanted more smoke flavor. Curious if the smokefire does better in that aspect (from some of those pictures it sure looks like it).

I'm sorry, I'm a little gun shy of making recommendations on pellet grills just yet. I hope that makes sense. I'm working on getting a video up tonight (it's uploading now actually...just taking forever). It's very long but very detailed. You can definitely see the problems I was having (and the ones I have not had that other people have experienced.)

I will say this though. I'm not going to lose my receipt. In fact, I would have taken my back tomorrow if my wife hadn't encouraged me to keep it if for no other reason (she knew) I was really in love with the idea of this cooker and didn't want me to give up on it without at least talking to Weber first.

I'm so confused. The folks I met in Chicago worked so hard on this and everything worked perfectly. I just don't understand what happened.

Be interesting to see how this all plays out. Was thinking of getting one of these this spring for those times I want to quickly grill something up. The angle on the hopper looks pretty shallow, my FEC has a vertical hopper so it's quite steep. Anyone reading that has a Memphis Grill? I believe their hopper is also horizontal, wondering how steep it is compared to the Weber.

The Memphis elite ramps aren’t very steep but I never touched the pellets in there in over 1300lbs of pellets. Never had a tunnel, hang up, jam or other issue with it

That's the way it should be. Makes me wonder if there is something different about the material inside. Is there something on there that shouldn't be...or vice versa.

You mentioned in your video that you would probably be putting a pan under the grate to catch the grease. Do you think that would help?

I just watched your video. Don’t feel bad or responsible. Everyone had high hopes and high expectations because it was Weber! Now the expectations are that weber is going to make this right, because it is Weber. A lot of people are waiting to see what Weber will do. It’s their move!

I know it's frustrating to have all these issues, but I can't believe that people bought not only a first generation product, but one from an entirely new product category, and expected it to go flawlessly. Apple has issues with their brand new products, and they might be a slightly bigger company than Weber.

First Generation purchaser = Beta Tester.

Yup.. Exactly what's wrong with things now a days! First generation purchasers should not = beta testers... Its the damn companies job to make sure they are releasing a final working product.. especially at this scale I keep reading alot of issues. Release a working product from the beginning..
