Most any fab shop can change out your trailer tongue, remove unwanted implements. Make it shorter and add a removable/swingaway tongue.
Sawsall, welder and drill you can do it yourself. They sell kits that are bolt on if you don't want to weld.

I probably wouldn't have this problem if I could stop looking at this cooker. As for taking it somewhere to get it chopped I'm a little nervous about that. If the welds weren't perfect or the paint didn't match perfectly I would not be happy. I bought a Shirley partly because of how well they are built and how nice they look.

Any inside pics of that one?

Tell me about it... That's why I started this thread so I could vent. That's the perfect cooker for me.

I ordered basically the same cooker from Paul a few weeks ago, but without the trailer. I never really need to haul mine anywhere. I can't recall if it's this one or another I saw, but I saw one that had 3 racks, and 5 slots to put them in so you can adjust the height if need be. Talk about practical.

As others have said, I bet you could offload yours pretty easily and for a good price since the wait time is so long.

Also, what is Hotch's cooker you mentioned?

I see a road trip in your future!!
Next trip for me is to add the patio pull handle back on, 2 more main chamber slides and box storage of some kind.
I left it with Kelley and Bruce over the holidays!!

Do you guys really think a used Shirley is worth more than the current value of a new one because of the wait time? If I can pull that off that would make my decision easier.

Did you read where I said I left mine with Bruce and Kelley?
They really like it and I'm going to get it in a few weeks!!

I’ve been told that as well. It’s really making it tempting to put a deposit down for a trailer model to be named later and sell my patio model. Good luck with your choice.

everyone that has been for sale in my group went quick but three is only one that is not selling very fast but has a $8,500 price tag . look at the one that were delivered to the St. Louis BBQ store , they are gone . All I could suggest is put it out on the market but make sure you want to let go of it and never thought mine would of sold so fast but at least went to a person on here .

Paul your Shirley is pristine, you shouldn't have any trouble selling it.

I have a 24x65 patio model that can be a tight squeeze in a two car garage with a couple vehicles. If money grew on trees I'd buy an enclosed trailer for it. It would become portable and double as storage. If the city won't let you add to the garage can you fit an enclosed trailer on the side of the garage? It probably doesn't make much sense since you can pull the smoker behind your vehicle but it would be nice for storing and act as a garage stall. More less talking out loud. That's my eventual plan someday

I actually thought about this but it would have to be big and then I might as well order a patio model. Then if someone steals my trailer they get both. I'm paranoid. Cookers are in a locked garage behind a locked gate.

There you go, Paul. Drive your trailer out here to Arizona, drop it off at my house, go get a covered trailer, come back and pick up my patio and head on home. Problem solved. :biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1:

Check the Facebook fan page. I don't know what you are thinking your smoker is worth but, the 'clean' ones I see on there sell for basically what a new one will cost when it is delivered in 2 years minus a little bit. Shirleys might not appreciate but, they sure don't depreciate much right now with the "supply and demand' situation the way it is.

What you are describing is more than I expected. Let's say a new 24x55 identical to mine is worth $6,500. Selling mine for $6k would hopefully get close to the price of a new 24x42 with a few more options that were not available when I bought mine. Maybe I'm a little delusional. Not trying to rip anyone off, especially a brethren. I know it's only worth what someone is willing to pay. Sounds better than paying to have mine shortened and those options added. 3' shorter is good but 4' shorter is better. Let me know what you think as I'm just thinking out loud. Am I being an s$$hat? Be honest. I'm not that sensitive. :boxing:

I want to go the other way.

30x70 or 80, straightback cabinet, turned warmer, full length stainless shelf.
