shrunken butts

How much shrinkage on average will a Butt go thru when smoked? ie 10lb. Butt when finished will weigh?? I know theres alot of variables to affect this but I'm just tryin to get a good ballpark idea.

I usually figure 60%. Many figure 50% to have extra.

Is the 10# weight trimmed or is that packaged weight? If it's not already trimmed up, you could lose 10% right there and then 40% during the cook process! Some folks dont do much trimming on boston butts, but I like to trim off any excess fat on the outside and some of the large pockets throughout.
