BBQ Brethren "Sandwich" Throwdown!

Rick, I understand where you're coming from, and I have refrained from doing that in the past. I did it this time as a one off, will probably not do it ever again. I would have immediately removed it if I got any sense he did not appreciate it.

Here's my best pp sandwich.

The bread roll here is what's known as a dustbin lid in northern parts of England. It' about 12" in diameter so this is one big farking sandwich (1 1/2lbs of pork).

It's pulled pork on a bed of green lettuce with homemade BBQ sauce and homemade slaw. It fed four of us.

it's not a matter of whether or not he appreciated it or not. i did it to funk's photo once and messed up the vote thread and it had to start over and gore got restarted out of some votes. i'm trying to prevent that from happening again.

sorry, nevder did a throwdown..did not realize this is the ACTUAL JUDGING thread.

I dont compete in the throwdowns.....Sorry, i thought they were for fun.. Thats an old pic of dinosaur bones i cooked a few summers ago in the early throwdowns before they became such serious business.

That pics been around the forum forever and as such, does not qualify. I will delete the posts and all its references before the judging.

Hey Phil, Whatever, It's still looks like Sled ought to be sitting behind it with a big smile on his face! Those are some awesome bones............Thanks for sharing.

Ah, okay, I did not know that Rick. I will make it clear to Bigabyte what happened. I do not want to prevent Gore from getting any votes in a throwdown.

I was wondering which part of Long Island had escaped the storm so successfully... The trees in the background don't appear to have even been phased by the snow:p

The Throwdowns are still fun, at least as far as I am concerned. Phil, if you put somewhere in your original post that it is an older photo and posted as a joke, then I see no foul, and no need to remove it.

I am probably going to add a couple rules to the Throwdowns along the lines of the following. This should hopefully address these areas, which have become a problem of sorts...

Editing others photos AFTER they post them should be discouraged for the reasons Rick gave. When people see an entry posted, and then after that entry is posted someone alters it and reposts a better version of that picture, some people think that is unfair unless they do that to EVERY photo. So don't do it. If you want to edit someones photo, or have someone else edit your photo, then do that before you enter the dang photo. Don't go posting 2 or 3 different versions of the photo, that makes it confusing.

Also, we have seen some good joke photos posted before and that helps to keep this fun. Please try and point out that it is a joke photo though. If you do not, i have no choice but to assume it is a valid entry. I made the mistake once of assuming someone posted a joke picture and left it off of voting, only for that person to feel slighted. So either explicitly state that it is a joke photo, or don't post it.

Now, back to the fun!

Sliders

Never enter a throwdown before, but this one seemed easy enuogh since I was cooking these sliders for lunch anyway, So here they are- Please use the second photo for judging.

I see, so the competition to get zero votes is getting pretty serious now, isn't it!:biggrin::biggrin:

1st EVER attempt at pulled pork

G'day Bruces...

Here's my entry to the Sammich throwdown:

I was amazed at how the whole cut of pork just fell to bits.... I looked at a lot of threads to learn how to do this. Believe me people, I'd never heard of doing pork like this until becoming a Brethren.

Anyway, here is the pulled pork, on a BBQ toasted Turkish Bread, with gravy made totally from the meat juices. It is accompanied with Guerry's Slaw recipe, and some rabbit food to keep the wife happy, and some kosher pickles.

Tasted super!

Cheers!

Bill
