I picked up a WeberQ 2200 Titanium to carry in the motorhome and wanted to have a griddle to go with it, so . . . .

It is 3/16 inch thick carbon steel with a rear grease drain that takes advantage of the WeberQ's integral grease/drippings drain and pan. Cooking surface is a little better than 12 inches deep X 18 inches wide. It is made to replace the stock cooking grates and allows the top to close normally.

Was a little worried about the single 12,000 BTU burner and if it would get hot enough; not to worry, holds +500* on the dome, probably +600* on the deck at half throttle with no problems.

While it was hot, I went ahead and started the seasoning process. I think I'll go find something to cook for dinner.

Nice fab Dave, you've got some great skills!

What's the material? Cold rolled steel? Sandblasted?

I use A36 hot rolled; better tolerances and IMO better weld penetration than cold rolled. I do put my griddles in the blast cabinet with a fine grit medium and clean down to bare metal (blasters call it "bright metal"), blow it off with air, wipe it down with denatured alcohol then blow it off again. I have found through trial and error this really gets the best seasoning and "non stick" surface.

Blackened Mahi Steaks!!!!

Served with some fresh jalapeno-mango-pineapple-red onion-cilantro relish and some curly fries; yum!

Looks great, so you now use the Q220 for open lid grilling?

Yep, with the stock grill grates it runs like a normal gasser for grilling with the top open or closed (Weber suggests always cooking with the top closed) but it only has a single large burner so I'm thinking everything will be direct heat cooking. This is primarily so we can carry in the motorhome so we have grilling/griddle capability when traveling. I also picked up a small GMG Davey Crocket pellet grill for smoking when traveling.

Plated pic from last night; blackened Mahi, Asian slaw, a mango-pineapple-jalapeno-cilantro relish & curley fries.

And another seasoning burn this morning, holds a pound of bacon.

I hav a older Q220 in our rv. Cooks a mean steak and gets plenty hot enough. Mine came with a cast iron griddle for eggs, bacon, etc. or whatever you want to use the griddle for. A bloke from Australia posted on a Q forum how to get the various uses out of a Q to maximize it. I also carry a WSJ but get more use out of the Q, even using it to cook indirect when needed. Once you get to know it, you're going to love using it.
