A friend of mine mentioned that hey had seen some classes advertised around town....I was wondering if any of you have every taken them, what you thought of them, and if you know of any comming up in the KC area?

Thanks

I been to this one,

Kansas City, KS
Starts:
11/15/2008
Ends: 11/15/2008
Instructor: ROBERT SNELSON
Website: http://www.lottabsbbq.com

he has a class almost every month, IMHO if you been to a contest, as a helper or did it, skip it. but you do know the basic's on smoking but need tips, garnish, and layout of boxes, the class might be worth it, the info is great, and the stories that are told is almost worth to go to the class.

I also been to some of the classes that Chef Mcpeake of RibStars does, now he is a great instructor, different classes for different needs, everything to basics,(smoking 101) bring in your own pit (smoking 102) and even a contest class (never been to it) he also does backyard cooking classes. you can find his classes at

The Kansas City Culinary Institute offers a few different BBQ classes. Depending on what you're looking for, you can do a 4 hour classroom environment or the all day version in which you bring your smoker and cook. Chef Richard of Rib Stars BBQ is the instructor and he's has a wealth of information. It's worth the trip out.

heard Andy had a great Brisket class :icon_cool at the K.C bash this year that I missed
