It was time to get the Old Beast (pull behind rig) fired up for the season. I spent Tuesday afternoon with a brush on an angle grinder getting off all the yuck and rust dust. Then it was burned and oiled up. It may have done a heck of a job on my clothes but when all was said and done it sure was looking pretty.

Today ended up being the Headstart's graduation and I was asked to do the meat cooking for it. Burgers and Hot dogs, nothing fancy but, enough to feed at least 100. It was looking like rain though so I figured I had better bring some cover with for good measure.

I have to say that the Old Beast did not disappoint. Before long it was rolling out smoke and the smell of meat was wafting through the air.

All and all, even though they way under predicted not only how many people would show up but, how greedy they would be and ended up running out of meat before the last 20 could get any, it ended up being a great cook and the Old Beast worked like a champ.

Now onto the next great cook!
