Hey guys and gals just wondering how long do your coals last i mean whats the longest burn time at temp have you've gotten out of them. This also means no minion and not adding any. So far i have been able to get 9 hrs with real cook temps i use brikets and its either Kingsford or Stubbs.

using wicked good in my big green egg, i got 21 hours out of a singe load of lump. the food was ready before the coals went out. if i had to guess, i probably could have gotten another 3 or 4 hours out of it.

I could have easily pushed 20 out of my Kamado Joe last weekend, it went 14 hours before I took the brisket off, still plenty enough to save for the next cook too. I was using Lazzari oak lump.

I've done 23hrs @250 in my UDS and I could have gone longer. I think my UDS makes charcoal!

Burn times will vary greatly due to several factors; cooker design, insulation, air flow, air gaps/leaks, size of fire, and cooking temps.
Something as efficient as a BGE can run over 24 hours @ 225* on 5 lbs of lump charcoal.

I went 18 hours on my UDS with a mix of Royal Oak lump and Kingsford blue. I could have easily gone 2 to 4 more hours.

I only use the minion method in the UDS'...the 55gal. could probably go for 48 hours smoking time.
If I use the WGA for smoking it will go for about 2,5 hours on 18 lit coals.

Could probably do 7 +hrs on the kettle if i tried. Never had to go past that yet.

I've never had a reason to do it, but I'm confident I could go at least 24 hours @ 225 with a full basket in the UDS.

I go 16 hrs in my UDS @ 250 and only use 1/2 a basket. My basket is 12 inches high.

Using 8 lb of Mali's last fall in my Primo Oval XL, I had a 31 hr cook last fall at an average of 225 (used a Digiq DX for temp control). The last 5 hrs were at 180 as I was smoking/drying beef jerky.

You said NO minion method. I can't testify to that since I've only ever cooked with the minion method.

That in mind, I've done 20 hours on my ECB (at between 225-250) on one load (probably 8 lbs of K blue). Still some left when done.

On the UDS, I've done probably 16 hours and had at least 1/2 my fire basket full of coals when done (K blue). My fire basket probably holds 18-20 lbs total when full.

Never timed how long it would take to burn it all, but I'd imagine 36-42 hours on the drum.
