Can't resist - more porn....... Trying to clean out the freezer and found this food saver’d brisket. This recipe caught my eye and when you look at the ingredients list you bout want to eat the page the recipe is on. Gotta figure out what to do the thicken it up. I wanted to double the chiles since I had them nice Hatch peppers a friend sent me so we cut the milk in the recipe in half but the dish was still too runny but still oh so good. I thought it would have been good spooned onto some toasted muffins. Also thought it would be better to let cool a lot longer than 10 min, but that’s easier said than done especially when the thing is within reach.

That Looks Like Good Eats to Me !!! I wonder if a few Instant Mashed Potato flakes would thicken it without changing the flavor of the casserole:?:

The wife made a big batch of green chile sauce for enchiladas Sunday night using a bag of chilies, tomatillos, cilantro etc. I froze the leftover.

Would you post the recipe for that casserole? It looks great. Wonder if a roux would thicken it ... or treat it like scalloped potatoes where you layer some flour in it. (or is that au graten?)

Copied and printed that recipe. I'll be whipping one of these up next time I have leftovers.

hey guys the recipe called for "frozen mashed potatoes" and I didn't know there was such a thing but looked for em and couldn't find em, so we used instant mashed potatoes and I think that is where we went wrong. They were just made and I think homemade or even leftover instant that had been in the fridge a day would have made a big difference, that and just try and make em thicker.

Boy, that sure looks good. Plus I've got some pork in the freezer now so I guess I will be making a trip to the store for some frozen mas taters.

gary

Instant Mashed Potato's have a tendency to get runny when reheated too...they thicken up when cool and get runny again when reheated.....just my $.02
