I've wanted to post something like this for a while, and with the Virgin Throwdown, I thought this would be an appropriate time. Essentially, these are some of my favorite pictures and posts from previous Throwdowns. I've only included some of mine as I hope others will be filled in. These are posts that I've gone back to when I've wanted a good laugh and I think it is good to have something like this to remind us of the fun times. So anyway, here are some of mine:

First, this is my all-time favorite thread. If you are aware of how the voting went at the time of each post, I think it is even funnier.

I believe this is the first of many rants, an instant classic:

I also couldn't leave this one out:

Then there is this "Farked-up Mess" submitted by Guerry. It looks delicious to me and I would've voted for it too, but I thought it would be better preserved for eternity in the Zero's Club:

I'll go ahead and put this one in also as I expect it will appear. I did this just because it had to be done. I honestly didn't expect it to receive more than a couple of votes, but it somehow struck a cord.

There are several more that come to mind, but I want others to share also. Please post a picture and link. Note, the links don't have to be in a Throwdown thread, but I expect the picture should be.

Those are awesome. I think you need to add your bacon entry. That was a classic.
Thanks for sharing. :thumb:

Which one? I still love the Bacon "Bugatti" as my personal favorite.

Thanks for the laughs! I've only opened the first link...and already laughing!

This one though...
...there's something else about that thread. It's not part of the laughs, but I just wanted to point it out. While Cranklin Jeorge won fair and square, and deserved it (that dish looks delicious), I want everyone to take a look at the picture submitted by Rick's Tropical Delight and tell me that it isn't the greatest food photo ever posted, ever!:clap2: I don't think I have ever seen a more perfect picture of every possible attribute of a food dish that could be made to look attractive.

Just saying because it shows that no matter how good (or bad) you think your dish may be, the results may not be what you expected!:thumb:

I gotta say, Gore's bacon stein ripped through the home brew community and was micro-viral, which in the beer community, anything micro is outstanding. That blew me away, although everyone was convinced it was precooked bacon glued to a stein, even though I told them I knew the creator and he would never waste bacon like that.

Thanks Guerry for mentioning Al's Chicken Burger. That one was also on my list. Absolutely hilarious!

In other places I've seen it, they think that's cheese inside. At least they knew it was beer. Neither bacon nor sausage were wasted. I must confess that not only could that handle not support the nearly 5 pounds of bacon and sausage and beer contained within, but that "stein" leaked like a sieve. That was one of the first pictures taken as that plate filled rapidly. For practical use, you'd need a very wide straw.

Since Ryan brought up the Scream, several of my favorites are from the winner of that throwdown. This was not my favorite of his. It would have been if that cone were filled with MOINKs or anything besides hardboiled eggs ... or fishheads.

I think I'm making a nice little collection for myself here. Here's another one that always cracks me up whenever I see it.

The winner of course is another of my favorites:

Who couldn't love the precision recipe!

Actually, I enjoy going through this whole thread. And in case you have any ideas that these throwdowns are tougher now....Wow!

Well done Gore! Its great to be reminded that it's all meant to be fun!

Cheers!

I was hoping I wouldn't make it on here lol. I was just reading Gore's eggplant entry and it was fantastic. Great memories

I don't know who else might have this on their list, but this one has haunted me for a long time. This is an example of how unfair the voting can seem. For the breakfast throwdown, Landarc produced a perfect fattie. Yes, seriously. Take a look at this: PERFECTION.

Somehow though, he did not receive a single vote for this effort. This was the origin of the Zero's Club, to celebrate such achievements. Of course like everything else here, it became warped. Here is the voting thread to prove it.

Gore, thanks for pulling these together. I had not seen that Surf and Turf thread before. It was hilarious, and I will also add that the entries for that week were amazing top to bottom. I got that stomach gurgle thing going just flipping through.

So can you or someone break out the bacon Bugatti? I have heard it mentioned a number of times but haven't seen it yet.

OK Jonny,
This came from the "Hot and Fast" TD. Another incredible one. I basically punted on this because my mouth was watering so much looking at the other great entries and submitted this for fun:

This was prepared too late for dinner and the whole thing went into the fridge to eat next day (Monday). That day, I get a call at work from my wonderful wife who thought it would be fun to do a victory lap for the winner, so before Red was eaten, we made up about 10 little flags with the names of the most likely winners (in our opinions) and took pictures of each one to post after the contest. A couple days later, to our shock, the bugatti had a pretty good lead and appeared that it would win -- we hadn't considered this possibility and we had not made a flag for Red. Luckily due to some technicality, there was a re-vote and Buster Dog pulled through and we were able to post this pic. I think Red (and the bugatti) look like they had a very busy night, but he's still puckered up.

I thought it was ECode that beat me on this one, it was Gore I see. Must be about the time I crawled into Gore's head and started messing with his brain controls.

That was a good Throwdown, I must say, looking at the entries in the FNG Throwdown, you can't even rely on low competition amongst the new guys to the forum.

I had been wondering how the whole Zero Club began. Landarc, you really had to go above and beyond the call of duty back in those to net a zero because there were about a gazillion people voting then. And I am with Gore that that fatty was very hitable. Which reminds me of something I have been meaning to post...stand by.

I just wanted to add this one, especially as a historical reference. It is a cancelled throwdown -- yes, such a thing can happen!

http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56167

In this one, there were only two entries, one of which was DQ'ed toward the end of the voting because it was not even cooked. That's right, and despite it being raw, it still garnered 25% of the votes! What I love about this is the discussion that eventually leads to comment #29. No, please don't read ahead and ruin it. It's best to go through the thread comment by comment until you get there. It's only a couple pages and well worth the wait!
