Does anyone here putt slaw in their pulled pork sandwich? If so what is your recipe for the slaw? Think I'm going to get flamed for this but just wanted to know because I want to try it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I like mine with coleslaw. I just shred some purple cabbage and some green cabbage and toss it with the same vinegar sauce that I use for the pulled pork.

Last summer I cooked 6 butts for my daughter's wedding reception and made a good sized pan of this coleslaw to go along with it. People were eating the coleslaw by itself and raving about how good it was. When I told them that it was actually there as a topping for the pulled pork sammies, they would say they had no idea.

This is what I use on my PP, I adapted it a bit, but this was the original:

Here is the quick recipe, go to KFC.....my favorite coleslaw recipes usually have some type of vinegar in them. It's really up to you though.

We tried it last week and it was awesome. The coolness of the slaw with the warm pork and bun was great. My wife said the overall taste was a little like turkey dressing which she loves. She doesn't have a recipe for her slaw (just makes it)but it is a creamy version. Maybe she does and just wont tell me-

Ha, that's what I do every time. Sometimes, I'll buy some biscuits and have the sandwich on them. 8)

Shredded green and red cabbage, shredded carrots, shredded radishes, onions all tossed with granulated garlic, season salt, pepper, olive oil, and wine vinegar. Very simple and everyone raves about.

Secret ingredient coleslaw

Here's my family's favorite coleslaw. The secret ingredient is horseradish.

FAMILY FAVORITE COLESLAW

8-cups (16-oz) cabbage, shredded
1/4-cup carrots, shredded

3-Tbs yellow onion, minced
6-Tbs milk
6-Tbs buttermilk or yogurt
3/4-cup mayonnaise
1/4-cup bottled lemon juice
2-tsp cream style horseradish
2-Tbs white vinegar or cider vinegar
1/2-cup granulated sugar
1/2-tsp salt
1/4-tsp ground black pepper

Place shredded cabbage and shredded carrots in a large bowl. Combine
remaining ingredients in a small bowl, mix well and stir into cabbage and
carrots.

Place in fridge and chill at least 2-hours before serving.

My favorite one is in "The Barbecue Bible" by SR. It is by Elizabeth Karmel and she uses it for her North Carolina Style Pulled Pork recipe on p. 154. I am not posting it here due to copy write infringements, but highly recommend it. It is not great by itself, but works magic when put on a pork sammy. IMHO

I don't like it on the sandwich, but I love it on the side. I ate a ton of cole slaw last night at my favorite seafood joint. If you're ever through this way, stop at Ed's Seafood Shed. It'll blow your socks off. Fried shrimp, gumbo, cole slaw and of course a big bowl of cheese grits.

Rick, do you ever work?? When do you find the time to do all this ??? Your stuff looks awesome.

Here's a really simple one...

Pineapple Coleslaw

1 head cabbage, shredded
1 can pineapple chunks (SAVE THE JUICE)
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp blackpepper
1 tbsp salt
1 tbsp brown sugar

Put the cabbage in a bowl. Add the pineapple (I like to give it a rough chop first). Mix the vinegar with 1/4 cup of the pineapple juice. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Pour over the cabbage and pineapple. Toss. Eat.

This goes great on a sandwich. Everyone loves it. Had some last night.
