One of my professors just finished a research project on Mexican Plum and has cut them down and told me i could have them. Wondering if anybody has used it.

I have used plum for a handful of smokes with pork ribs and spatchcock chicken. It had a nice flavor similar to apple. I'm guessing most plum varieties will have a great flavor so you have a nice score there. If there are green branches you might try giving them a try before they dry out as green fruit wood often gives spectacular results.

Oh, plum is great to smoke meats with! It's very mild, the mildest of all the fruit woods. Easy to split, well behaved in a fire -- you're going to love it! I grab plum wood whenever I can!
