I never used to be able to find reasonable Tri Tip around here. Big box was $11.99/lb. Trader Joe's was $9.99/lb.
All of a sudden our Sams is carrying it for $4.98/lb. Saw these the other day, remembered the TD and said I'm In!
Now I had a bunch of creative ideas, Tri Tip Pastrami, Tri Tip Pot Pie, Tri Tip Wellington. Half the time I come up with crazy ideas, and never get to them and miss a TD totally.
Today I got stuck at home with a repairman fixing a hot water heater, and a sick kid. Wife called and asks, what's for dinner? I say.....Tri Tip?
So I hooked it up with some Oakridge Santa Maria rub, a chunk of cherry and some Rockwood Lump on the Weber. Nothin fancy...may not be worthy of the title of Tri Tip Master....but at least I'm the Master of Own Domain!
Twin pack. Enough for leftovers.
Isn't that nice!
A little Oakridge!
On the Grill
Smoking away. Love the smell of that cherry!
Time for a sear!
And a rest.
Sliced. Nice medium rare. Great flavor.
It may not be the most creative. But we love Tri Tip!
