Horizon Convection Plate in a SNP?

Hi everybody. This is my first post (other than my intro post). I built an UDS and am having really good results with it. I recently got a Brinkmann Smoke N' Pit used and for free. I am having a heck of a time trying to get even temps from end to end.

My question is has anyone tried using a Horizon convection plate in a SNP? If so how did it work out? I used the search feature and did not having any luck finding a previous post. Thanks to all who reply.
