It's been wet and cold (for SoCal) this winter. Haven't been cooking outside much. Wife wanted stuffed cabbage rolls. Figured I'd make some garlic cheese bread along with the cabbage rolls. Quick no knead bread. 2nd rise done on parchment paper.

Then the parchment is used to move the bread to a preheated pan. Then the cover goes on and into the oven.

While the bread was baking, I put together the cabbage rolls.

When the bread finished, I put the cabbage rolls in to bake.

The cabbage rolls out of the oven. Bacon on top because, well, it's BACON! Name me one thing that isn't better with bacon.

I should have done this on the pellet smoker so I could have entered in the wrapped TD. Oh well. Thanks for looking.

Oh how I miss cabbage rolls. My ex is Canadian and cabbage rolls were a staple with her family. I may have to look into making them myself.

Nice!

What is in the sauce the cabbage rolls are sitting on?

Wife grew up in western NY near Buffalo and it was a staple in her family also.

It's a tomato/meat sauce. Basically pasta sauce. It's the way we like it.

Man, that looks fantastic.

I'm especially interested in the garlic bread...

Just a fairly quick no knead bread. Flour, yeast, salt, and water. Mix it all together by hand , put in a bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise3 to 5 hours. Dump out on a well floured board ( very sticky dough) and fold over itself with a bench scraper 10 to 12 times to bring it together in a ball shape. Put parchment paper in the bowl and put the ball on it. Cover with a towel. Let rise while preheating a covered Dutch oven in a 450* oven. Approx 30 mins. Put the dough in the parchment in the Dutch oven, put the lid on, and return to the oven for 35 to 45 mins. Take it out, pull the parchment out, and return the uncovered Dutch oven to the oven for 15 to 20 mins more to brown and crisp. You can add different herbs, garlic/cheese, or whatever sound good to you.

3 cups flour all purpose or bread
1/2 tsp of yeast
1 tsp sea salt
1 1/2 cups hot water no more than 130*

I added 1 large clove garlic minced and 1/4 cup fresh grated parmesan cheese. I also sprinkle about a tsp of kosher salt on top of the bread right before I put it in the oven. Make sure you have a nice hollow sound when thumping the bottom when you take it out or bake a little longer

Comfort food for sure however my stomach is telling pass the cabbage rolls and some bread please.

I've never had that, and from the looks of it I've been missing out! :hungry:

And that garlic bread - yes! :clap2:

Hope all is well in RC!

Those look outstanding! No doubt they taste as good as they look, great job with those.

Brother, that looks amazing.
Thanks

Give it a try sometime, good stuff. All good in RC.
Those look great, but I would need more than 2.
Went back for another and more bread!
Oh Hell Yeah!
Thanks

Looks delicious. I've only started giving cabbage a chance in the past couple of years. I never could get past the smell, but I've learned to love it.

Superb job on both the bread and the cabbage rolls. I'd hit up a plate of that and then some!
