Is lookin for wood to cook with.
So I happened upon an 18" Weber OTS at a yardsale and for $10 I couldn't pass it up. The lid is a little beat up and not exactly round but I bought it with the idea of making a fire pit out of it. I am thinking of building a wood gas fire pit (think wood gas stove, only bigger). I don't know if it will work but I can get 55 gallon drums for about $10 locally. I want to cut the drum down to about 24" flip it upside down and cut a hole in the bottom to place the weber in, then the only thing I should have to do would be drill holes around the top lip of the weber, down around the fire grate and around the cut edge of the drum. If it works I plan on adding patio pavers around the drum to dress it up. Even with the pavers total cost will only be around $60 and a little time.
Just wondering if anyone else has seen or done this themselves? If so do you have any advice before I start?
