I am reasonably sure that a Scotch filet is simply a ribeye (reasonably). Is it a term meant to be derogatory towards Scotsmen?

Planning a BBQ and this came up. Help me que with a conscience you Aussie, Brit, and Kiwi farkers.

Thanks.

Nah. Now, Ranga might be a bit offensive...

Lots of red hair in Scotland...

No bone.
Get it
Just kidding but yep, it's the meat part of ribeye, and you can que guilt free, no idea where the label came from but certain it wasn't meant to poke fun at the Scots.

Na, the term scotch probably means it originates from scotland. You would probably find the scottish are proud of the fact than take offence.

My family is Scottish and I've never heard that term. And I'm not offended by it, either.

Nor am I, unless you were to cook one in front of me, with offering up a taste.
Just sayin'...

It is, along with Scotch Tape, Scotch Eggs, and Scotch (the drink).....

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahaha

i think it's derogatory to the the word "filet" . . .

I totally understand...

It is not a Scottish term, or even European. It is a Aussie term for a boneless ribeye steak.

Why Scotch Filet? Who knows, but copious amounts of likker were probably involved. :becky:
