• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Yesterday I cooked 6 butts for different friends and family members. Every single one of them told me that the people that they fed said it was the best BBQ that they have had. One was a person who was s member of s competition team for a few years. These were strangers, not the friends and family who would have felt obligated to say they liked it. The reason I know these people said this is because I saw Facebook posts about it. A LOT of them.

This got me to thinking of getting set up to maybe really make a push to start selling my 'Q. Have any of you done something similar and just how did you get started? I would like to get set up to cook for events, on site, for now. Private parties and such. Get word of mouth going before I start thinking about the next step of a full fledged brick and mortar place.

Any thoughts?

Check out the catering section of the forum. Lots of good info there from guys that do it all the time.

But check with the local health dept. Lots of things to do to do it legally. Can't just be cooking out of your house and get certified/insurance and what not. I think you can technically get around the HD if you are a private chef cooking on private property, but still check with them. They normally are very helpful.

Insurance is the biggest part. Many of us have looked into this and backed off. Not saying you can't do it. but there's more to it depending on your level of comfort. Health department is a good place to start. Congrats on your food getting rave reviews. I do it for friends and people I trust. Everyone else I turn down. Good luck.
