• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Hey guys, I'm finally going to get a WSM :icon_clown but on Amazon.com they seem to have two different models although the specs are the same. Does anyone know if there is a difference with any of these? One sells for $199 and the other one sells for $249. I've posted the links below. Any help is appreciated. I just want to make sure I get the right one.

Model 2820 / Model 8482

Thanks!

I haven't got the slightest idea what the difference is.
I was only aware of the 2820.

I the description, the 2820 does come with a 10 year warranty and
that is the only difference I can tell.

I would stick with the 2820.

I am curious about the difference if any.

I'm guessing they are from two different sources. You should be able to tell.
That occurs fairly regularily on Amazon.

There is only one model.

Thanks fellas! Looks like that just might be the case. I feel fairly safe going with the 2820!

There is currently only one model WSM.
At one time a very small WSM was available, but they are no longer produced, and are very rare from what I understand.
The WSM has remained relatively unchanged in design since 1980. Some materials (doors, legs) are aluminum in new models, steel on very early models. Early models also had 2 sets of holes in the charcoal ring.
Do both models come with the heavy duty cover? It is the only difference I can think of. There are threads on the virtual weber bulletin board site that detail why there are different model numbers.

The small model is the 1880.

I'll tell you from experience this is an excellent cooker. You will be really happy with it. I use mine to cook chicken at bbq contests.

I have saw the 8482 model on Amazon discussed before. I can't remember exactly what it was, but it was something to do with a catalog or SKU type of number. There is just one reliable WSM model out there so buy w/ confidence and know you are getting a great smoker.

I know at one time I heard talk of a bigger WSM was coming out. It doesn't look like this it but I'd be happy to see it when it does.

there is only WSM model. but everyone tries to make a buck off em.. retail i think went to like 250+ or something but amazon still sells them most of the time for 199.00 . so get it from amazon for 199.00 it comes with the HD cover as well. all in the box. awesome cooker..
