• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

All right I am going to cut up some wood and also from a friend that has been seasoned for a year. My question is...... Do you cut off the ends that the chainsaw went through? Or does the oil from the saw disapate with time? I am new to stick burning,,,,,

How much oil are you talking about?

Oh crap you could even smoke the sawdust for cold smoking fuel....the minute amount of oil is nothing so the splits is definitely nothing to concern yourself with. Cut the wood, smoke and enjoy.

Ok thanks I figured that..... But thought I would ask. I cut the ends off my cherry splits that was cut with a chainsaw.... I won't worry about it anymore.

Oh God.... I may not sleep for two weeks. I've got to find a local lab that can analyze the amount of chain oil that is embedded in the ends of my splits. While I'm at it, I will get them to determine the amount and aging quality of the residual fat and grease left on my grates that is not scraped away by my wire grate brush. LOL

I guess at times we all tend to overthink things. Good smokin' to everyone, Joe
