• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

How good is Hackberry for smoking? The neither had some cut down so I scavenged some wood. I saw on the list it was suitable, but don't recall reading anyone using it.

Can someone please tell me what Hackberry is? Is it a fruit producing tree or a bush w/flowers or what the Fark?

As far as I know, a hackberry doesn't produce any viable fruit, except maybe some sort of non-edible seedpod. It's a relatively fast growing tree that has smooth grayish bark and VERY white wood.
Having burned a bit of it in stoves and fireplaces over the years, its an ok firewood, not a great btu wood but burns ok.

I have no experience cooking with it.

I spit my evening beverage on the screeen, seriously, oh fark!

Thanks:) Well, that means come a year from now I will have some wood, especially if I can get this mesquite cut down.

Hackberry

Arlin got his h-berry from my back yard and has really liked the result. Me??? I've got about 75 hackberry trees that need pruning often enough to keep Arlin and me happy. Schmoakin' and brewin' - - - ahhhh, that's the life!!!
