• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

You vist other forums  Two-timer

Bout a mile and 1/2 from my house. Been there a coupla times. No fruit wood. Mostly oak and mesquite. The rest is firewood.

Damn....Thought I was finally gonna get a good supply of wood not out of a bag... I will keep hitting Home depot, and BBQ galore.

Wood

There's a place in Orange - The Wood Shed. It's east of the fwy off Katella. Try information for the number. They'll tell you over the phone what they have, or can get.

Any ideas about wood sources (apple, white or red oak, pecan, or cherry) within 50 miles of Atlanta?

Last summer, I bought 50 lbs of oak and apple (notice weight, not volume). Wood by itself cost me not more than 30-40 bucks. shipping more than doubled that. won't buy wood on the internet again. even tried to have it drop shipped ground freight. folks didn't wanna play. but i was in a bind. stupid me.

So, here i am again, trying to find a source in my neck of the woods (marietta, ga).

Anybody have any ideas?

Rocke, are you tellin me I can buy Mesquite somewhere off Katella????

Dude! I work in Orange of Katella and Tustin. I'm startin to run out of the wood my big brother brought me back from TX. If they gots Mesquite and it aint n-e more expensive than the bags I buy from Walmart- I'm hittin them up!
Thanks!

I have been though GA several times when living in Florida and just figured you guys down there had easy acess to pecan. If I were you, I would run down some orchards and check out their brush piles.

several years ago, after one of the bigger storms moved thru, I was able to get just about all the oak, hickory and pecan anyone could have ever wanted from the folks that cleaned up the areas. unfortunately, the tree folks that do the cleanups want to double-dip. that is, get paid for the removal and get paid for selling what they just got paid to remove. and they ain't cheap.

i've talked to a couple of folks down in americus (about 200 miles from here, as the crow flies) that were hit hard by the storms/tornados 2 weeks ago, and while there is still stuff there, they too, want to get top $$$ for what mother nature brought down. and given that I drive a nissan sentra, it just isn't worth spending $100 in gas, and another 100-200 to pick up the scraps in two or more trips back and forth..
