• xenforo has sucessfully updated our forum software last night. Howevr, that has returned many templates to stock formats which MAY be missing some previous functionality. It has also fixed some boroken templates Ive taken offline. Reat assured, we are working on getting our templates back to normal, but will take a few days. Im working top down, so best bet is to stick with the default templates as I work thru them.

Has anyone used these before? I was thinking of getting some and see how they work. The price seems right if they are full slats.

I have heard nothing but good about them used as chunks or chips.

If the price is right........

I recently picked up a half wine barrel made out of oak at a winery. It had red wine in it. I used some to cook a tri tip and it came out awesome, it actually took our tri tip to first place at a comp last weekend in San Jose. All I used was two peices about 1 1/2 inches by 2 inches or so. I haven't gotten a chance to use it on anything else yet, but I'm thinking my next brisket will be smoked with this oak. I am curious though if the wine or whiskey in your case actually add any flavor. I'd say if its priced right and close to you give it a try.

They have a price of $1/slat and $5 for the bottoms. Is this a good price? I may see how much they have and offer a price for the whole lot.

I saw this guy on TV once using Jack Daniels barrel slats. He was at a comp I think . His name was like Phil , Poobah or something or other..

i use jack daniels oak barrel chips all the time. my favorite!

I bought a half whiskey barrell at Lowes and broke it down into slats. Didn't like it too much. Had some kind of glue or adhesive on the sides of the slats and also had what smelled like pine dowels holding everything together. I had to shave the sides off the slats and pull all the dowels out. Major pain in the derriere. Maybe all that has been cleaned off on what you are looking at though.
