Hey guys,
For some reason i still can't search the forums, so I pose this question: What wireless thermometer do you recommend and where did you buy yours?
I am looking to cook a couple of chickens this weekend and thought it might be a good idea to have a wirelss which will tell me when they are done.
Thanks in advance.

I have a weber style wireless because it was a gift - I love it, it works great. I can't imagine bbq without one. I really want a maverick redicheck, because of the dual probes. And on the sending unit, it has a digital readout of the temp. Keeping an eye on the internal smoker temp is just as important. And the weber and the maverick are roughly the same price on amazon.

p.s. just remember, if there is a problem with the unit, 9 out of 10, it needs new batteries.

I have both the Maverick and the Weber, and while the dual probe feature on The Maverick ET-73 is tough to beat for not only remotely monitoring internal meat temp but also cooking chamber temp, the range on the Weber is far superior.

If you have to have them by this weekend, you should be able to find the Weber around town, I got mine at Sears, whereas you'll have the order the Maverick off the internet, and you might not have enough time.

I also have had good experience with the Maverick ET-73. It has decent range where I have used it, holds it's factory temp. calibration well, and has good battery life. Downsides are that it cannot be calibrated by the user, at least that I know of, and the probes can get fried in higher heat cooks.

Love my ET-73. Also, make sure you don't let the probe wires get kinked or wet as this can cause a failure too. I don't have a range issue at my house but my cookers are very close to my kitchen by linear feet. However, you may not be able to get them in time unless you want to pay for overnight shipping.

I have a few and the Maverick ET-73 does as stated above. A plus is that a piece of wire can be added to the antenna connection to add 2-3 times the range.

I have a Maverick also.

FYI, as for search, unless you subscribe, you cannot use the top search function. But, there is a customized Google search bar at the bottom of the page that works for everyone.

get the maverick as stated above, but make sure to do the mod to extend the range..it makes a huge difference...no more dropped signal anywhere in my house or in my yard (before the modification, it would not go through the walls real well, especially if I was in the 2nd or 3rd floor). Google search remote thermometer extended range mod and you will see it on instructables.com...it only takes about 10 minutes to do...very easy and very much worth it
