Did a nice heavy coat of Wild Thang rub for the wild animal meats on the stew meat. It's all simmering away in the UDS with a couple huge pieces of maple for some smoke.

Pics later..should be good stuff!

Man, that sounds great, FWI!

I was lucky enough to bag two large does last Saturday at my in-laws' place east of here. As I was processing and butchering up the meat, I set aside a small leg roast and some choice trimmings for a reservation with my smoker, too! I'm thinking that the venison, some leftover smoked Thanksgiving turkey, and the pork butt I've got sitting in the back of the freezer just might wind up in a big ol' batch of Brunswick Stew for our last tailgate of the season next weekend! Or maybe for dinner after our "Christmas decorating" efforts next Sunday...or maybe for a nice, relaxing after-church Sunday lunch with the family while they're still in town... :decision:

Ahhh, who am I kidding? I never need an excuse to make (or eat!) Brunswick Stew! :thumb:

Gorgeous pic, MisterChrister! Stay safe and warm!

Keep us updated on your cook, FWI! You boys have a great weekend and Happy Thanksgiving!

It's been slow simmering in the smoke now for about 5 hours....the potatoes were the last to go in a short while ago so not too much longer to eating!\

Those mini splits that were put in with the coals are still going strong.

It came out better than I imagined...nice and peppery too from the Wild Thang and tasty/savory. Just a perfect meal for a snowy day!

Happy Thanks Giving to you!

Looks good. How you liking that rub?
I really like that rub. Just did a rack ribs with some.
Thanks!

I'm really liking it a lot! If its going on a thin piece of meat I learned to go light on it...man did it make a good seasoning for this stew, besides adding it to the meat when i browned the venison I sprinkled more in the stew while it was cooking.

Outstanding outstanding flavor, could not be more pleased.

Man that looks perfect. Be a good use of scrap meat I bet.

Gonna have to get the spot light out. :biggrin1:

Thanks Adam! Just might have nailed this stew cook....getting the carrots and potatoes just right is important. I usually over cook something. lol This Wild Thang rub get's an A-plus in my book for this.

Yes get yourself a buck!!! That sounds fun and it can fill your freezer.

Man...your finished product looks AWESOME! Definitely going to have to try the Wild Thang rub on some venison during a future cook! :-D

Glad it turned out so well!

Yummy looking stew Keith. All you need with that is a nice big hunk of cornbread.
